IX.7.20 Pompeii. December 2007. Room (i), west wall of large triclinium, with wall painting of Adonis. Schefold describes this as Adonis, with a Persian clothed companion, going on a hunt. See Schefold, K., 1957. Die Wände Pompejis. Berlin: De Gruyter. (p. 271). According to Peters, this was an Amazon on horseback. He described the background as being a grey-lilac mountain-ridge with a small tree on the left, and a column in the centre. On the right, was a lilac-pink rock. This background whilst taking up a large amount of space provided few details, and was typically Fourth Style. See Peters, W.J.T. (1963): Landscape in Romano-Campanian Mural Paintings.The Netherland, Van Gorcum & Comp. (p.108)
