Schefold describes this as Adonis, with a Persian clothed companion, going on a hunt.
See Schefold, K., 1957. Die Wände Pompejis. Berlin: De Gruyter. (p. 271).
According to Peters, this was an Amazon on horseback.
He described the background as being a grey-lilac mountain-ridge with a small tree on the left, and a column in the centre.
On the right, was a lilac-pink rock.
This background whilst taking up a large amount of space provided few details, and was typically Fourth Style.
See Peters, W.J.T. (1963): Landscape in Romano-Campanian Mural Paintings. The Netherland, Van Gorcum & Comp. (p.108)

IX.7.20 Pompeii. May 2005. Niche in kitchen, room (p).
According to Boyce, in the west wall of the kitchen, in the south-west corner of the house, was once a niche.
This niche was coated with white stucco, but was subsequently bricked-up.

According to Jashemski, Mau thought this large L-shaped area on the south side of the house was a garden or courtyard.
The triclinium on the north (room s, on the right of photo) had a window onto the garden which gave it light.
